Joseph L. Chartier
CENTRAL FALLS - Joseph L. Chartier, 92, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Carmen (Beauregard) Chartier to whom to he was married for 55 years until her death in 2002. He was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Vitalien and Georgeanna (Allard) Chartier and was a resident of the Blackstone Valley his entire life. He was an expert air conditioner and boiler technician for 38 years retiring in 1984.
Joe was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps, serving in Italian and North African campaigns during World War II. He served many ministries at Our Lady of Consolation Church and especially enjoyed participating in the Rosary Group. He was a member of the Retired Glass Workers, the Central Falls Senior Bowling League, and the Forand Manor Association.
He leaves his daughters Christine and husband Stephen Harrop of Exeter, RI and Susan and husband Albert Hulley, of Warwick, three sisters Estelle Routhier of Cumberland, Lucille Labbe of Central Falls, and Madeleine Charette of Pawtucket, and two brothers, Raymond Chartier of Pawtucket and Charles Chartier of Woonsocket, four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alma Magnan, Gerard Chartier, Rita Gouin, Jeannette Labbe, Theresa Korkuc and Maurice Chartier.
His funeral will be conducted from the Darlington Mortuary of L. Heroux & Son, Inc., 1042 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Consolation Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours in the funeral home on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island would be appreciated.
