Joseph D. Azar
LINCOLN - Joseph D. Azar, 84, passed away peacefully on October 16th surrounded by his loving family. Joe, the devoted husband of Alice (Hallal) Azar for 55 years. Born in Central Falls, the son of the late John and Nasema (Alam) Azar. Joe, the loving father to Joseph Azar, Jr. of Lincoln and to Valerie Dunn and her husband Thomas of Saunderstown. Granddaughters Brittany Dunn and Victoria Azar will forever cherish their Giddo.
His family was quite simply his world and will be forever remembered as the best anyone could possibly be. Brother to the Rt. Rev. Archimandrite John Azar and sisters Mary and Helen Azar and Elizabeth Joubert. Also, brother to the late Lena and Mary Azar, Louis J. Azar, Linda Nader, Juliette Marcoux, George Azar, and Dolores Renzi.
After serving in the U. S. Navy, Joe, along with his brother George, operated Azar Brothers Service Station for 48 years where he would greet all with a warm smile and a kind word.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. Basil the Great Church.
Visiting hours in St. Basil the Great Church, 15 Skyview Drive, Lincoln Sunday, October 21st from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. A liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 22nd at 10:00 a.m. The Committal Service will follow at St. Basil's Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Basil the Great Melkite Catholic Church, Lincoln, RI or St. John Chrysostom Melkite Catholic Church, Atlanta, GA.
