John P. Wiencis
PAWTUCKET- John P. Wiencis, 87, of Appleton Avenue passed away Friday October 5, 2012 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary L. (Nyzio) Wiencis.
Born in Pawtucket he was a son of the late William and Monica "Rose" (Tocko) Wiencis. He lived in Pawtucket for 52 years and was formerly of Central Falls.
Before retiring in 1983 he was employed as a Glass Worker for the former Corning Glass Works now (Osram-Sylvania) of Central Falls for 37 years.
John was a WWII Navy Veteran serving as a Seaman First Class. He was a member of the Fierlit-Korzen A.L. Post #79 of Central Falls and a member of the Pleasant View Seniors of Pawtucket and the former St. Joseph's Seniors of Central Falls.
He leaves one daughter Rosemary L. Stevens of Pawtucket, two sons John A. Whitfield and his wife Mary of Riverside, RI and William P. Wiencis and his wife Dorothy of Pawtucket, he also leaves seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Catherine A. Wiencis.
Mr. Wiencis funeral will be held Tuesday October 9, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High Street Central Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church 391 High Street Central Falls at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. CALLING HOURS MONDAY FROM 4:00 PM TO 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery East Providence. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in John's Memory to St. Joseph's Church Renovation Fund would be greatly appreciated.
