John P. Asermely
PAWTUCKET - John P. Asermely, 81, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, September 7, 2013. He was the husband of the late Victorine (Nassaney) Asermely. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Elias and Jamelia (Monsour) Asermely.
John was a navy veteran of the Korean War and was active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, branch of Damascus. He, along with his brothers, owned Asermely Brothers Service Station. He also owned and operated the former Asermely's Market. He later was a bus driver for RIPTA for 16 years, retiring in 1996.
He is survived by three children, Judith Asermely, Mary Bergeron, and John Asermely and his wife Holly; two brothers, Louis and Charles Asermely; and five grandchildren, Elias Asermely, Daelynn Casavant, Emma Bergeron, Hannah and Baylee Asermely. He was the brother of the late Mary Sackal, Nora George, Eva Morrow, James and Joseph, Asermely.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:45am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Basil The Great Church, Skyview Drive, Lincoln. Burial will be in Saint Basil's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8pm, in the funeral home.
