John J. Gawlik
PAWTUCKET- John J. Gawlik 85, passed away Monday August 1, 2011 at Epoch on Blackstone Boulevard. He was the beloved husband of Stella B. (Dzierzyc) Gawlik.
Born in Blackstone, MA he was a son of the late John F. and Victoria M. (Maslon) Gawlik. He was a life long resident of Pawtucket.
Before retiring he was employed as a Machinist for the former G.T. Schjeldahl Co.
John was a WWII Navy Veteran discharged as a Seaman First Class. He served aboard the USS LST #1064 and USS LST #990. He was a member of the Fierlit-Korzen A.L. Post #79 of Central Falls and was a member of the former Holy Name Society and Seniors of St. Joseph's Church.
Besides his wife he leaves his loving children Christine M. Ben of Cumberland, Patricia A. Baldwin of Lincoln, Richard J. Gawlik and his wife Donna of Johnston. He also leaves his 5 cherished grandchildren Peter Ben, Stephanie Baldwin, Justin Baldwin Danielle Gawlik and Anthony Gawlik and 1 brother Stanley A. Gawlik of West Warwick, nieces and nephews.
His Funeral with Military Honors will be held Thursday August 4, 2011 at 8:30 AM from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High Street Central Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church 391 High Street Central Falls at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. CALLING HOURS WEDNESDAY FROM 4:00 PM TO 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery Cumberland.
