CUMBERLAND - John F. Wall Jr., 87, of Cumberland Street passed away Friday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center,Providence, surrounded by his loving family. Happily married for 62 years, he was the husband of Estelle (LaRose) Wall.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John F. Wall Sr. and Margaret V. (Burns) Wall. He was a life-long Cumberland resident.
He was a United States Army Air Corps, World War II veteran. He was an active member of the Rhode Island Air National Guard from 1958 to 1961.
Mr. Wall was employed as a pipe welder for Valley Gas for 36 years, retiring in 1986. After retirement he worked delivering flowers for Uncle Ronnie's Flower Shop of Cumberland.
John was a life-long communicant of St. Patrick Church, Cumberland. He was a member of the American Legion Post 14.
Among his interests he enjoyed fishing, model airplanes, dancing, traveling, but most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several and nieces and nephews.
Besides his beloved wife, he leaves two daughters, Susan P. Martin and her husband John, and Colleen F. Miller and her husband Robert, both of Cumberland; one son, Kevin J. Wall and his wife Debra of Pawtucket; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Mary Costigan of Pawtucket and the late Robert Wall, Lucille Burke, and Louise Spinella.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday at 9 AM from J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Patrick Church, Broad Street, Cumberland. Burial will follow with military honors in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Curran Road, Cumberland.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Monday, from 4 to 8 PM.
