John B. Lawler
CUMBERLAND - John B. Lawler, 77, of Cumberland, passed away Friday at the Memorial Hospital of RI, Pawtucket. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Garrity) Lawler.
Born in Bermuda, he was the son of the late Maurice and Clara (Smith) Lawler. He was raised in the Worcester, MA area and resided in Cumberland, RI for over 48 years.
Mr. Lawler, a graduate of St. John's High School in Shrewsbury, Mass. and Fairfield University in Conn., was employed as a Supervisor for the State of Rhode Island, Department of Administration, Central Mail Services for many years until his retirement.
John was a devout Christian who loved spending time with his family, gardening, show tunes, and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Besides his wife he leaves his children, John B. Lawler Jr. of New Jersey, Sarah M. Lawler of Maryland and Edward "Ted" G. Lawler of Maine; his sister, Jane Jackman of Maryland, six grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Thomas and Peter Lawler.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM.
