Joaquim D. Guerra
CENTRAL FALLS - Joaquim D. Guerra, 90, formerly of Tremont Street, passed away Wednesday at the Pawtucket Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Pawtucket. He was the husband of Gracinda (de Carvalho) Dias Guerra.
Born in Lameiro, Carvide, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao and Dolores Dias Guerra. He moved to this country in 1974, settling in Central Falls.
He was a machine operator for Hasbro Inc. of Pawtucket for many years until his retirement.
He was a communicant of the Our Lady of Fatima Church. He was a social member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana of Cumberland.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Maria Alice Presoti of Lincoln and Mary-Lou Barra of Palm Coast, FL; one son, Michael D. Guerra of Cumberland; two grandchildren, Christopher Barra and Derrick Barra, both of Florida; two brothers, Jose Guerra and Joao Dias; one sister Elisa Natario, all of Portugal; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in the Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Curran Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Friday from 4 to 8 PM.
