SOUTH ATTLEBORO - Joan (Dutra) Soufy, 71, of South Attleboro, passed away peacefully July 28, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of Charles J. Soufy, Sr.
Joan was born in Providence, a daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Dutra.
Mrs. Soufy was a seamstress, by trade, and owned S & S Sewing for five years. She also worked at her son's auto body shop for the last 10 years.
Joan lived a very full life. She was always willing to try a new adventure. Her passion for the last 11 years was spending time with her granddaughter, Jordan. She was raised in a large family. Joan was an avid bowler, loved playing cards, going to bingo nights and going to the casino.
Besides her husband Charles of 53 years, she is survived by her daughter Dorothy Soufy and Beth Pollard of Taunton, her son Charles, his wife Cathy and her very special granddaughter Jordan all of Rehoboth.
She is also survived by her brothers Alfred Dutra, Francis Dutra, David Dutra, Joseph Dutra and Manuel Dutra and her sisters Eleanor Dulfer, Mary Jane Gauthier, Carol Moriarty and Kathleen Boie. She was also the sister of the late William and Thomas Dutra. Joan also has many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm, with a funeral service to begin at 7 pm in The Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St, Attleboro. Burial will be private.
