CAMBRIDGE, MA. - Jennie Hull Lavendier died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 12, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was in her 95th year. Formerly of Pawtucket, where she owned and managed Carmel Realty, and of East Orleans, on Cape Cod. Her husband, Charles C. Lavendier, died in 1960. A Realtor and landlady, she put her children through college and provided residential sales and rental services to neighbors and friends for more than 40 years. In the late 1930s she played on the nationally ranked New England Tuberettes women's softball team. She was known for supreme generosity, often opening her home to those in need of shelter and comfort, as well as for determination and will to live; she fought Alzheimer's disease for more than 17 years.
Daughter of the late John and Mary (Polak) Hull, she was surrounded by a caring family throughout her life. She was predeceased by brothers Frank Hull and Aloysius Hull and sisters Bridgit Palin and Florence Blazus. She leaves sisters Nora Kartaciewicz of Seekonk, and Albina Lakomski of Pawtucket, sisters-in-law Terry Hull and Charlotte Hull of Pawtucket, and her children, Carole Talley and husband Gordon of Cambridge, John Lavendier and wife Jane of Brewster, Ma., Vincent Lavendier of Wellfleet, Ma., and Mary Myers and husband Dr. Henry of Peak's Island, Me., five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and an extended family of more than 50 nieces, nephews, spouses, exes, and significant others, all of whom she welcomed with unconditional love.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2042 Beacon Street, Newton, MA 02468. A wake will be held at Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home, 342 High Street, Central Falls, Friday, April 15, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 391 High Street, Central Falls, at 10:00 the following morning. Interment will be at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
