NORTH ATTLEBORO - Sister Jeanne d'Arc Fournier, SUSC of Madonna Manor, North Attleboro, died July 9, 2014 at the age of 93. She was born in Lawrence, MA July 20, 1920, daughter of the late Napoleon and Roseanna (Raymond) Fournier. In addition to her Holy Union Sisters, her brother Francis Fournier of North Attleboro, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews survive her. Her sister Annette Logan and brothers Joseph, Donald, Romeo and Raymond predeceased her.
Sister Jeanne d'Arc graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Lawrence. She entered the Holy Union Sisters in Groton, MA on January 22, 1949, and pronounced her final vows on July 26, 1957. She received her B. S. at Catholic Teacher's College, Providence and an M.A. in Religious Studies from Villanova University.
Sr. Jeanne d'Arc taught in elementary schools in New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island for thirty-six years. She served as superior and principal at St. Anthony School, Shirley, MA. Her final assignment was as librarian at St. Cecilia School, Pawtucket, RI. She retired in 2000 but continued to be active in St. Cecilia Parish as a Eucharistic Minister and also taught religious education to special needs students in Holy Spirit Parish, Central Falls. In 2004 she joined the retired Holy Union Sisters at The Landmark in Fall River. In 2012 she moved to Madonna Manor.
All funeral arrangements are Tuesday July 15 at Sacred Heart Church, North Attleboro. The wake is at 10 a.m. followed by a Vigil Service at 10:30 and Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI. Funeral arrangements are by Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, North Attleboro, MA.
