James W. Moroney, Sr.
NORTH PROVIDENCE - James W. Moroney, Sr., 76, of Smithfield Road, died Wednesday, March 12, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Caren (O'Brien) Moroney.
Born in Providence, a son of the late James and Gladys (Erickson) Moroney, he had lived in Pawtucket and Riverside for many years before moving to North Providence last year.
Mr. Moroney was a Park Attendant for the City of Pawtucket Parks & Recreation Department, before retiring in 2003. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Moroney; two sons, James W. Moroney, Jr., and his wife Dawn, and Eric J. Moroney, and his wife Christina, all of Pawtucket; four sisters, Gladys Turner of Lincoln, Thelma Moroney of Pawtucket, Shirley Perrotta of Lincoln, and Kathleen Abosso of Westerly; two brothers, Edward Moroney of Pawtucket, and William Moroney of Buffalo, N.Y., three grandchildren, Jami Moroney, Kati Moroney, and Lucas Moroney; two great-grandchildren Gianni Moroney and Austin Moroney; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Carol Vashey.
His funeral service will be celebrated Monday, March 17 at 9:00 a.m. in BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
