OSTERVILLE, MA - James "Jim" Peacock, 77, longtime resident of Osterville, passed away peacefully Saturday September 3, 2011 at Cape Cod Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Harmon)Peacock for 53 years.
Jim was born in Pawtucket, RI and graduated from Pawtucket West High in 1954 where he was a star football and basketball player and held the school javelin record for many years. He then joined the US Army for 2 years and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.
Jim enjoyed most being surrounded by his grandchildren, his winters in Florida, golfing, playing cards with friends and family and spending time with his life-long friends from Rhode Island.
In addition to his wife Claire, he is survived by their four children, John Peacock, Scott and his wife Amy Peacock, Joyce and her husband David Lawton and Jeffrey Peacock. He is also survived by ten incredible grandchildren, Scott, Jessica, Michael, Ashley, Jeremy, Meghan, Jennifer, Samantha, Jamie, and Teddy.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday September 17, 2011 in the Osterville Baptist Church, 824 Main Street, Osterville, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Osterville Baptist Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
