CUMBERLAND - Jacinto B. Sousa, 75, of One Mendon Road, passed away Friday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the husband of Maria (Cabral) Sousa, and they had been happily married for the past 49 years.
Born in Feteiras, Sao Miguel, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose Botelho Sousa and Maria da Conceicao Carreiro. He moved to this country in 1987, settling Burrilville and later Cumberland.
Jacinto was employed as a Machine Operator for Tech Industries for 15 years, retiring in 2002.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Noelia Ferreira and her husband Jose of Canada, Maria M. Costa and her husband Joao of Cumberland, Jose J. Sousa of Warwick; siblings, Maria Gloria Botelho, Maria da Conceicao Bizaria, Fatima Sebastiao, and Lucia Resendes; grandchildren Tania Ferreira, Alex Costa, and Kelsey Costa; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose B. Sousa, Manuel B. Sousa, and Deodato B. Sousa.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, One Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Curran Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Monday from 5-8 PM.
