CUMBERLAND - Irene D. Bergeron, 90 of Cumberland died Sunday at the Oakhill Nursing Home in Pawtucket. Born in Pawtucket she was the daughter of the late Paul and Rose (Gervais) Bergeron.
Prior to her retirement in 1986 she worked for 48 years at Fram Corporation. Irene was an LPN and worked part time at Memorial Hospital and the Red Cross. She was President of the Woman’s Guild at St. Jean the Baptist Church and Treasurer of AARP #610 from 1993 until 2000. She enjoyed traveling and had traveled around the world.
Irene is survived by a sister, Doris Martel of Florida; a nephew, Norman Bardsley of Pawtucket; and two nieces, Lois Bardsley-Sirois of Foster and Elaine Martel of Marlboro, MA.
Irene was the sister of the late Alma Bardsley.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, 9:00 a.m. at LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Church, Slater St., Pawtucket at 10:00 a.m. Her life will be celebrated with calling hours on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Irene's memory can be made to the Building Fund of St. John the Baptist Church, 69 Quincy Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
