CENTRAL FALLS â€” As a surge of undocumented immigrant children spills into the United States from Mexico, itâ€™s not unusual to hear calls to seal the border and speed up deportations.
â€śA nation without borders is a nation without sovereignty,â€ť a woman says on the TV news.
But in the most Latino square mile of Rhode Island youâ€™re likely to hear a kinder, gentler version of the ramped-up debate over immigration triggered by the crisis in the Rio Grande Valley.
â€śPutting up walls and other things are Band-Aids,â€ť says Mario Bueno, the director of Progreso Latino.
