High-rise residents evacuated

August 14, 2012

PAWTUCKET — Over 80 tenants of Slater House at 10 Goff Ave. had to find temporary lodging after an early morning electrical fire on Monday forced the complete evacuation of the downtown high-rise.
According to Fire Capt. Steven Parent, who is also the city's fire marshal, the incident was reported at around 2:30 a.m. The electrical fire appeared to start in an adjoining, street-level office on Broad Street that used to house an architectural design firm.
