PAWTUCKET - Regan, Helen, 92, of Pawtucket passed away Monday, March 04, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Maurice Regan. Born in Rockford, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (O'Malley) Phillip. She had lived in Pawtucket over sixty years.
Helen graduated from Rosary College and received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Loyola University and worked for several years for the Catholic Charity Organization. She was a longtime member of St. Leo The Great Church where she served as a lector, sacristan, CCD teacher, a member of the prayer line, holy dusters, seniors, and Tabernacle Society. She was involved with CFM and the Marion Award. She volunteered as secretary at the school office and was instrumental in the establishment of the school library. Helen along with her husband served as co-chair of the Bay View Centennial Celebration.
She is survived by three daughters, Maureen Orabone and her husband John, Meg Battersby and her husband Arnie, and Mary Beckett and her husband John, eight grandchildren, Kristin Vaz, Amy Aleksiewicz, Joshua Orabone, Rachel Orabone, Beth Orabone, Kim Battersby, Mark Battersby, and Kate Beckett, and four great grandchildren, Grace, Anna, Emma and Alex. She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Vera and Betty Phillip and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Phillip Regan. She was the sister of the late Paul, Robert, and Gerald Phillip and the sister-in-law of the late Jane Phillip.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 10am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Leo the Great Church of Blessed Pope John II Parish, 697 Central Avenue Pawtucket at 11am. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7pm.
