SOUTH CAROLINA - Helen Therese Fidrych, 95, wife of Anthony Walter Fidrych(Deceased), died in Beaufort, South Carolina on September 12, 2011.
Helen was born and resided in Pawtucket R.I. until moving to Beaufort in 2005. Earlier in her life, Helen worked for the American Red Cross during World War II and served in Paris, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Luzon. Her work brought her in contact with American POWs being repatriated after the war along with many injured soldiers from the European and Pacific Theatres. Returning to the United States after the war, Helen worked in the administrative field in New York City and Providence, Rhode Island.
Helen was predeceased by her son John Mark Fidrych of Philadelphia.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lisa, grandson, Alex, granddaughter, Erica, and grandson, Kristian. She is also survived by her son Bud of Beaufort, daughter-in-law, Tricia, grandson, Christopher, and granddaughter Katie.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 16, 2011 from 3-4 PM at St. Peter's Church in Beaufort, SC immediately followed by a funeral mass. Helen will be buried in St Francis' Cemetery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island alongside her husband Tony.
