PAWTUCKET — While children look forward to the time off from school, research reportedly shows that the lazy, hazy days of summer can cause a loss of learning. To help stem this, Hasbro, Inc. and the United Way of Rhode Island have teamed up to establish the Hasbro Summer Learning Initiative for children across Rhode Island.
A $200,000 grant from the Hasbro Children's Fund will help the United Way launch the initiative across 11 existing summer programs throughout Rhode Island. According to a press release, these programs will provide children with the opportunity to engage in hands-on educational and service projects so they are prepared to embrace learning and excel when they return to school.
