Graca carries Tolman cagers to victory

Tolman's Jeremy Graca scored seven points in the final minute of Monday night's 56-48 victory over Barrington.

The talented senior scored seven of his 16 points in the final minute as the Tigers defeated Barrington, 56-48, in a Division II crossover contest at the Eagles’ gymnasium.
The Eagles led by eight points (29-21) at halftime and then the Tigers’ defense went to work, limiting their host to 19 points. Eli Wiggins grabbed 10 boards and had six steals and Rodney Bastillo added 10 points, four assists and five steals for the Tigers, who won their sixth game in the last seven outings and improved their record to 4-3 in Div. II-Central and 9-3 overall.

Townies edged, 57-56
EAST PROVIDENCE – East Providence lost a thriller on Monday night, suffering a 57-56 loss to visiting Cranston West in a Division I crossover contest.
Derek Andrade finished with a double-double for the Townies, scoring 13 points and also grabbing 13 rebounds. He also had two steals.
After trailing by eight points (35-27) at halftime, E.P. made the Falcons sweat it out, just missing two 3-pointers in the final minute to tie the score. The last trey attempt came in the final seconds. The Townies converted on a putback on the shot, but ran out of the time to score the go-ahead bucket.

Clippers lose in O.T.
CUMBERLAND – Poor foul shooting and a clutch 3-pointer by their opponent with less than a second remaining in regulation proved to be the difference in the outcome as Cumberland dropped a tough 74-64 overtime loss to West Warwick Monday night at the Wellness Center.
With the Clippers ahead by a score of 62-59, the Wizards’ Max Montrioni sent the game into overtime by banging a trey with .8 seconds left on the clock. West Warwick owned the extra five minutes, outscoring the Clippers, 12-2.

C.F, nets big win
CENTRAL FALLS – Thanks to a steal and a subsequent layup by Clifton Johnson with 22 seconds remaining in overtime, Central Falls secured its biggest win of the season, a thrilling 70-67 triumph of previously undefeated Westerly on Monday night. The Warriors improve to 5-2 in Division II-North while the Bulldogs fall to 8-1 in Div. II-South.
Johnson’s heroics in OT put C.F. up 68-67, which was followed by two free throws by Derrick Lopes to ice the game. Westerly’s Rob Nardone nailed a 3-pointer – his lone field for the contest – as time expired in regulation to tie the score at 59-all.
Johnson finished with a game-best 32 points, swishing five 3-pointers. Rob Murray added 10 rebounds while Derrick Lopes added 10 points and 10 assists.

Davies falls short
WARWICK – Davies Tech’s bid for its first win of the season came up short as Warwick Vets held on for a 70-61 triumph Monday in a Division III crossover contest. Brendan Daily paced the Patriots (0-7 III-North) with 24 points while Jerel Rodrigues pumped in 14. For the Hurricanes, now 4-4 in league play, Cory Muto threw down a game-high 33 points, stroking five 3-pointers.

Rogers rips Lincoln
NEWPORT – Rogers grounded Lincoln, 63-50, Monday night in a Division II crossover affair. The Lions fall to 2-5 in league play while the Vikings improve to 5-2.
Ryan Musket paced Lincoln with 16 points while Brendan Reddington and Mike Akanji contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.
