George L. Bachand
CUMBERLAND - George L. Bachand, 73, of Cumberland, passed away September 1, 2011 in the North Bay Manor, North Smithfield. He was the husband of Jeanie (Krause) Bachand, and they had been married for 47 years.
Born in Central Falls, RI, he was the son of George and Marie Ange Turgeon Bachand. He resided in Cumberland, RI for most of his life.
He was the manager of the former Terminal Delivery, Inc. for 43 years until his retirement in 2000. George was a master craftsman who spent much of his spare time making handcrafted furniture for family and friends. He was an active adult leader in the Arnolds Mills Troop 1 Boy Scouts of America and served as an assistant scout master for many years.
Besides his beloved wife he leaves a son and daughter-in-law, George David and Marlene Bachand of New Mexico, a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth (Beth) and Brian Ammerman of North Smithfield, and three grandchildren, Nick and MayLiana Bachand, and Casey Ammerman.
A celebration of his life will be held from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland, with a Memorial Service on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 1:30 PM with military honors to follow. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family visitation will be held prior to the Memorial Service at 12:30 PM on Sunday September 18, 2011.
