George J. Audette
PAWTUCKET - George J. Audette, 91 of Pawtucket died Friday at the Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of the late June (Voyer) Audette. Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Joseph D. and Diana (Bourgeault) Audette. He was a Pawtucket resident his entire life.
George was employed as a stone setter for the Jewels By Felice Company for 12 years retiring in 1961. He was a devoted husband to his late wife June and his son Kenneth. George purchased a van at one time and he and June and Kenneth would go camping on weekends where they met several new friends. They truly loved having these little adventures with George at the wheel. He was a driver of the elderly and handicap people for the City of Pawtucket.
He was a WWII Army Veteran serving with Head Quarters Company 43rd Calvary Reconnaissance Troop Mechanized. George participated in the Guadal Canal, Northern Solomons, New Guinea and Luzun Campaigns. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal 43rd Head Quarters Reconnaissance Troop, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Distinguished Unit Badge 43rd Infantry Division, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, w/one Bronze Service Star.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth Audette of Pawtucket; a nephew, Robert Audette of Texas. He was the brother of the late Alfred P. Audette.
His service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 from the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Church, Slater Street, Pawtucket at 10:00 a.m. His life will be celebrated with calling hours prior to the funeral from 8:30 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial with Military Honors in Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggett Avenue, Pawtucket.
