George H. Babcock
PAWTUCKET - Babcock, George H., 82, of Denver Street, Pawtucket, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013. George was the husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Cardin) Babcock.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late George and Elizabeth (Slaiger) Babcock, he was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. George was employed in the East Providence School system for 53 years as a Business teacher and in the Guidance Department. He was also a Professor at the Community College of Rhode Island where he was a driver education instructor. George was also a past President of the Rhode Island Drivers Education Association.
Mr. Babcock is survived by his son, George E. Babcock, Esq. of Pawtucket and his wife Christina, six grandchildren, Alexa M. Babcock, Victoria E. Babcock, Sophia M. Babcock, Noelle M. Babcock, Olivia S. Babcock and Cheyanne Carvalho, a brother Frederick Slaiger and two sisters, Dorothy Houghtaling and Elizabeth Avery. He is predeceased by his daughter, Sharon Babcock Meerbet.
Mr. Babcock's funeral will be from the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket on Saturday, April 20th at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph's Church, 195 Walcott Street, Pawtucket at 10:00 AM. Graveside burial with full Military Honors will follow in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, April 19th from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and also from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
