George F. Rizzardini
SEEKONK - George F. Rizzardini, 73, of Newman Avenue, Seekonk Ma, died Thursday, November 17, 2011. He was the husband of the late Beverly L. (Carpenter)Rizzardini.
Mr. Rizzardini was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Lena M. and Gabriel (Pierini) Rizzardini. He served in the Army National Guard from 1956-1963.
Mr. Rizzardini graduated from the Massachusetts Police Academy in 1966 and served as both a full time police officer in Seekonk for two years and then a special Seekonk police officer until he retired in 2003.
Appointed as a Seekonk Call Firefighter in 1956 he served in that capacity until 1968 when he was appointed as one of the townâ€™s first permanent firefighters. He retired from the Fire Department in 1993. He was the co-founder of the Seekonk Firefighters IAFF Local 1931 and a lifetime member of the Seekonk Fire and Police Associations.
Mr. Rizzardini is survived by his daughter Donna J. Rizzardini of Seekonk.
There will be a graveside service for Mr. Rizzardini on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Seekonk Cemetery, Route 152, Newman Avenue Seekonk Ma. His calling hours will be Tuesday, November 22 from 4-7 p.m. in the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited.
