PAWTUCKET - George A. Bishop, Sr., 81, of Pawtucket, passed away July 2, at home after a long illness. The son of the late Elmer H. and Winifred S. (Hamilton) Bishop, Sr., he leaves behind his beloved wife of sixty-four years, Ann M. (Goyette) Bishop.
He is survived by two sons, George A. Bishop, Jr., and his wife Rosemary, of Cranston, and Steven A. Bishop, and his wife Cheryl, of Pawtucket; one daughter, Linda A. Bishop of Pawtucket; one sister, Winifred Thorpe of Hollidaysburg, PA; two brothers, William Bishop of Pawtucket, and Robert Bishop of Wilbraham, MA; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his faithful canine companion, Penny. He was the brother of the late Elmer Bishop, Jr., Gerald Bishop, and Eunice Nylan.
An Army veteran, Mr. Bishop worked for many years for the City of Pawtucket, retiring in 1987 as the Superintendent of Fire Alarms. He was a Past Master of the former E. L. Freeman Lodge #41, F. & A.M., now Jenks Lodge #24, F. & A.M.
His funeral will be held Saturday, July 7, at 10:00 a.m. in BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held Friday at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
