LINCOLN - G. Eleanor (Bateman) D'Olivo, 92, of Vista Drive died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. She was the wife of the late Ralph W. D'Olivo.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Pearl (Blanding) Bateman, she had lived in Lincoln for the past 55 years.
Mrs. D'Olivo was an executive secretary for Potter & Johnson before retiring. She had also worked as the secretary to the Lincoln Schools superintendent. She was a member of the Lonsdale PTA, and she was on the original organizational committee that built Lincoln High School.
She was a past Worthy Matron of the former Limerock Chapter, #26, Order of the Eastern Star, Lincoln and was currently a member of Queen Esther Chapter #2, Order of the Eastern Star, Pawtucket.
Mrs. D'Olivo was a member and treasurer of the Blackstone Valley Women's Club and the Pawtucket Women's Club. She was also active in the General Federation of Women's Clubs and served as National Crafts Chairman. As chairman of this committee, she supervised a massive and interesting quilt project. She provided material to the craft chairman of each state, which they developed into a square incorporating the name and shape of each state. Once completed, there were two giant quilts. During the Bicentennial Year of 1976, one quilt unveiled at the National GFWC Convention and is on display in Washington, D.C.
She was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, Pawtucket where she served as treasurer and on other committees.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Arrighi of Pawtucket; two grandsons, Scott P. Arrighi and his wife, Linda, and Todd E. Arrighi and his wife, Lynn; and two great granddaughters, Briana and Kaitlyn Arrighi, all of Pawtucket. She was the sister of the late Milton Bateman and she also leaves her beloved cat, Smokey.
Her funeral will be held MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5 at 11 A.M. at BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call SUNDAY 2-5 P.M. At 4 P.M. on Sunday, an Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held.
