State of Rhode Island and
PAWTUCKET - Frank Martino, 85, of Pawtucket, RI, passed away surrounded by his loving daughters on April 30, 2013. He was predeceased by his loving wife Despa Martino. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June 2013.
Mr. Martino held the position of Chief Bureau of Audits for the State of Rhode Island before he retired in 1989. He was President of the Rhode Island Society of Governmental Accountants and Auditors from 1974-1975, President of the State and Municipal Finance Association from 1975-1976, Treasurer of the New England States and Municipal Finance Officers Association from 1971-1983. He was the recipient of the Howard E. Munroe award for his contribution to the advancement of governmental finance. Mr. Martino was a United States Air Force Veteran of WWII.
Mr. Martino was born in Providence, the son of the late Michael and Mary (Nicolai) Martino. He is survived by his daughters, Diane Maynard and her companion Richard Antonelli and Mary Anne Paine and her husband Michael. He also leaves five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was the brother of Marie Guisti and the late William Martino, Julia Rinaldi, Esther Squadrito, and Emma Bottone.
Mr. Martino was a kind and loving man who enjoyed cookouts and gathering with his loving children and grandchildren.
The funeral for Mr. Martino will be Saturday at 9:00 am from the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket at 10:00 am. His burial will be with full Military Honors in Mt. St. Marys Cemetery, Pawtucket.
