Frank J. Dowgiala
ATTLEBORO - Frank J. Dowgiala 70 of South Attleboro died Friday June 3rd at the Golden Living Center Attleboro after a brief illness. Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Frank and Veronica (Prestley) Dowgiala.
Frank was a graduate of Attleboro High School. At age 17 he entered the US Navy and was trained as a meteorologist serving in Scilly. Upon returning home he attended Dean Junior College, Franklin MA. He was an avid reader and excelled at the game of Chess. Frank also enjoyed fishing, carpentry, swimming and trained a horse or two. He will be remembered as a caring man and one who was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Frank was employed by the former St Regis Paper Co. of Attleboro for over 15 years until he experienced a traumatic brain injury which originally left him severely debilitated. During the following years he courageously worked to regain speech, mobility and his zest for life. Following the death of his father he decided to reside with his mother offering her comfort and to care for the family home.
He leaves behind his daughter Jennifer and her husband Christopher Roche of North Attleboro, his daughter Nicole and her husband Christopher Wenger of Glenwood CO and his deceased son Steven Dowgiala. In addition he leaves six grandchildren; Zoe Dowgiala, Ryan, William and Paul Roche, Sim and Grant Wenger. Also surviving are his loving sister Elizabeth A. and her husband Thomas Watman of Henniker, NH. One niece Susan and her husband Eric Schultz and one nephew Mark Watman and his wife Jennifer all of NH.
A Private viewing and Mass followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. The family request that you perform a random act of kindness in memory of Frank. God Bless www.cheethammortuary.com
