Devoted to Her Family and Her Faith
CENTRAL FALLS - Frances Mary (Mentel) Lynch, 86, of High Street, Central Falls, Rhode Island and formerly of Bartlett, New Hampshire and Starr Lane, Attleboro, died on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Charles William Lynch, Sr. to whom she was married for 52 years at the time of his death in 1999.
Born in the Lonsdale section of Pawtucket, Rhode Island on April 21, 1924, she was raised and educated in her native city where she attended and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1942. One of her proudest accomplishments was never missing a day of school her entire twelve years of education.
A resident of Central Falls since 1999, Mrs. Lynch returned to Rhode Island from Bartlett, New Hampshire where she was a resident since 1974. Prior to moving to New Hampshire, Mrs. Lynch resided in Attleboro for many years.
Locally, Mrs. Lynch was employed as a switchboard operator for Swank, Inc. in Attleboro and for AT & T in Providence. In New Hampshire, Mrs. Lynch was a sales clerk working for various retail establishments in the greater North Conway area.
She was a previous communicant of the former Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Pawtucket and recently of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Providence. In New Hampshire she celebrated her faith at Our Lady of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church where she volunteered as a CCD teacher.
She will be lovingly remembered for her love of gardening, her lifelong devotion to animals and her love for cooking and baking that bestowed her as a winner of an apple pie contest.
A woman led by a great Christian example, she demonstrated a strong work ethic and served as a wonderful role model for her family. Her "warm heart and gentle soul" will be missed by all who were lucky to have known her.
In Central Falls, Mrs. Lynch was a member of the Blackstone Valley Tenant Association.
She leaves a daughter: Kathleen M. Demeule of Attleboro; a son: Charles W. Lynch, Jr. of Seekonk; three grandchildren: Robert Lynch of Attleboro; Hope Clarke of North Attleboro and Ehrin Demeule of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; two great grandchildren: Ahrin Helka of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Nathaniel Clarke of North Attleboro; her dear companion: Casper "Bud" Hawes of Central Falls, Rhode Island and several extended family members and dear friends.
At her request, visitation has been respectfully omitted.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence.
Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
