Florence Dora Young
LINCOLN- FLORENCE DORA (SEXTON) YOUNG, 93, went to be with her Savior, Lord and Friend, Jesus Christ from her home in Lincoln, R.I. on March 30, 2012. She was the wife of the late William Sexton Jr. and, later in life, the wife of Charles Young, also deceased.
Born in Niagra, Falls, New York, on October 12, 1918, a daughter of Robert and Mary (Beswick) Pope.
Florence was employed as an assembly worker at A. T. Cross of Lincoln at the time of her retirement in 1984. She was a long-time communicant at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Pawtucket, R.I., and All Saints Anglican Church in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
A wonderful example to all, Florence was a praying woman of faith who prayed for her children, grand-children, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends on a daily basis.
She is survived by four children and their spouses: Robert Sexton (son) and his wife Eleanor, Carol Ann Papa (daughter), Ina Pearl Taylor (daughter) and her husband Gerald, William E, Sexton (son) and his wife Elizabeth, and was pre-deceased by her daughter June Lee Barrows. In addition, she leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at the Merrick R. Williams Funeral Home at 530 Smithfield Avenue, Pawtucket, R.I. from 4pm to 8pm on Monday, April 2, 2012 (401-723-2042). Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, 11:00am at All Saints Anglican Church at 1188 South Main St., Attleboro, Massachusetts (508-222-2640).
Internment will be held at the Oak Hill Cemetery on Central Avenue, Pawtucket, R.I., (at the intersection of George Bennett Hwy), following the church service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to her favorite charity, Christian Appalachian Project, 2610 Palumbo Drive, Lexington, KY 40509.
