Everett L. Anderton Jr.
CUMBERLAND - Everett L. Anderton Jr., 90, of Colonial Avenue, passed away Wednesday at the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Gwyneth D. (Weaver) Anderton.
Born in Melrose, MA, he was the son of the late Everett L. Anderton Sr. and the late Marion (Hopkins) Anderton. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life, previously residing in Pawtucket.
Mr. Anderton was a United States Army, World War II Veteran, serving as member of the 1st Special Service Force, 101st Airborne, and the 82nd Airborne.
Everett was the owner and operator of the former Andy's Pizza of Cumberland Hill for many years. He was also employed by the Okinite Wire & Cable Corporation for 10 years until his retirement in 1987.
He leaves his sons, Mark C. Anderton of Cumberland and Michael D. Anderton of Uxbridge, MA; and daughter, Kimberly D. Peloquin of Blackstone, MA; sister, Rachel Pierce of Washington, seven grandchildren, two great-grandsons, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donald Anderton and Evelyn Perry.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday with a prayer service at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow in the Newell Burying Ground, Attleboro. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 PM.
