AVON, CT - Emily (Otto) Sheldon, 102, beloved wife of the late Rev. Paul E. Sheldon, died Tuesday, (December 18, 2012) at her home in Avon.
Born and raised in Marietta, OH, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Emma (Andre) Otto. The wife of a Congregational church pastor, she and her husband served churches in the greater Boston area and Pawtucket, RI. She was a world traveler and loved music. Emily enjoyed swimming, which she did in Niantic Bay to the age of 100.
She leaves her son, Paul Sheldon and his wife Fran of Drexel Hill, PA; two daughters, Emily Arthur of Michigan and Maria Sheldon Honiss of Simsbury; ten grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters, Cornelia Otto, Viola Stegner, and Evangeline Otto.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012, 11 a.m. at First Church of Christ in Simsbury, 689 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury. The Rev. Kevin Weikel will officiate. A reception will follow the service. There are no calling hours.
