LINCOLN - Elsie E. Evans 95 died Wednesday at the Hallworth House, Providence. She was the wife of the late Irving E. Evans. They were married for seventy years.
Born in Cumberland a daughter of the late Daniel and Sarah Jane (Peters) Partington. She resided in Cumberland most of her life moving to Lincoln in 1978.
Mrs. Evans leaves two daughters Carolyn Deming and her husband, The Rev. Robert Deming of Orange, Ct. and The Rev. Dn. Betsy Lesieur and her late husband Robert C. Lesieur of Cumberland, three grandchildren Andrew Lesieur of Lakeworth, Fl., Sandra L. Balay and her husband Paul of No. Attleboro, Ma. and Elizabeth A. Deming of Naugatuck, Ct., one great granddaughter Peyton Elizabeth Balay and many nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late David Deming and sister of the late Ethel Partington, Annie "Nan" Partington, Mary Usher, Mildred Boyce, Betsy Pollitt, Ruth Lomas, Doris Dougan, Stanley, George, Willard and Philip Partington.
She was a life long member of Christ Church, Lincoln and a member of the Altar Guild, ECW, Choir Member and Mr. and Mrs. Club. She worked on parish bazaars, was a chorus member for many church variety shows and musicals at the church. Mrs. Evans was a member of the Lincoln Manor Tenants Association.
After graduation from high school Elsie graduated from Kinyon's Commercial School in Pawtucket and was employed by Standard Nut & Bolt of Cumberland.
Elsie enjoyed making fudge on rainy days, crocheting afghans and cross stitched beautiful tablecloths. She also enjoyed bowling, flower arranging and musical events while living at Hallworth House.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held on Tuesday at 10am in Christ Church, 1643 Lonsdale Ave. Lincoln. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday 4-7pm at BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL 160 River Rd. Lincoln.
