PAWTUCKET- Elaine Delaney, 77, of Ellenton, Florida and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Senator William and Marion (Sullivan) McCaughey.
She lived most of her life in Pawtucket before moving to Florida in 2001. She graduated from the East High School. She was employed by Fram Corporation in East Providence for fifteen years, retiring in 2001. She later worked for Manatee Hospital, Florida until her retirement in 2008. While in Florida, Elaine was active in several organizations in her community.
She is survived by her children, Patricia King and her husband Terry of Birmingham, IA, Joanne Barcelou and her husband Kenneth, of Rumford, Donald and William Delaney, both of Ellenton, FL, Stephen Delaney and his companion Maureen of Pawtucket, and Philip Delaney and his wife Donna of Putnam, CT. She also leaves six grandchildren, Tracy and Jason King, Kerri Eichorn, Benjamin Barcelou, Derek and Michael Calabro, and nine great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Mary Ellen Delaney and the grandmother of the late Caleb King. She was preceded in death by her companion of over 30 years, Lt. Colonel (USAF Ret.) Walter Pollitt.
A Service will be held Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 5PM in the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Sunday, 3-5PM, prior to the Service in the funeral home.
