Edward A. Parent
CUMBERLAND - Edward A. Parent, 76, from One Mendon Road, passed away Monday at home. He was the husband of Helen (Joly) Parent.
Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Tom and Ida (Jacques) Parent. He resided in Central Falls for the past 8 years, previously residing in Cumberland and Reno, Nevada.
Mr. Parent was a manager of Silver State Barricade and Sign for many years until retirement. After retirement he was employed as a School Bus Aid for Laidlaw and Durham Bus Services for over 10 years.
He was a United Sates Air Force Korean War veteran, attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He later served as Chief of Police in the Nevada Air National Guard.
He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children Pattie Rackley, Cheryl Raybourn, and Kathy Partin all of Reno, Nevada; four step-daughters, Linda Varone, Dianne Garon, Donna Messier, and Lori Helms; two brothers, Albert Parent and Andrew Parent; three sisters, Shirley Blanchette, Theresa Mercier, and Joan Perry; four grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial will follow with military honors in the RI Veteran Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held from 9 AM to 10 AM.
