Edward L. Godfrey
CUMBERLAND - Edward L. Godfrey, 91, passed away November 3 in the Holiday Retirement Home, Lincoln. He was the husband of Lucille A. (Fontaine) Godfrey, and they had been married for 63 years.
Born in Brighton, MA he was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Cummings) Godfrey. He resided in Cumberland for the past 50 years.
He was a United States Army, World War II Veteran.
Mr. Godfrey was employed as an engraver for the Leavens Manufacturing.
He was an avid fisherman, loved bowling, painting and was also a fan of the New England Patriots.
Besides his wife he leaves his niece, Jacqueline Normandin of Lincoln, three nephews, Robert Mercier of Florida, Michael Mercier of South Carolina, and Ronald Mercier of Johnston; one sister Betty Lou Ruest of Manchester, MO; as well as several grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Godfrey.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 with a funeral service at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted.
