Edward F. Philbin
CUMBERLAND - Edward F. Philbin, 85, of Albion Court, Lincoln and formerly of Cumberland passed away Friday surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Bailey) Philbin.
Born in Central Falls he was the son of the late Edward J. and Mabel (Johnson) Philbin. He lived in Cumberland most of his life.
He was employed by the General Electric Co., Warwick for 15 years until his retirement. He was also a 20 years U. S. Navy, Submarine Service veteran having served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Philbin was a communicant of St. Aidan Church, Cumberland. He was also an avid bowler and walker.
He leaves three daughters, Cynthia Sawicky and husband Thomas of Exeter; Gail Delvino and husband Anthony of Cumberland and Christine Kurbiec and husband Randall of Lincoln. Two brothers, Thomas Philbin of Cumberland and Francis Philbin of Texas. Six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life with military honors will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Aidan Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in R. I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
