Edward F. Doonan, Sr.
CUMBERLAND - Edward F. Doonan, Sr.,age 85, of Carlson Drive, Cumberland, passed away on Monday,December 20, 2010. He was the husband of the late Vivian S. "Ma" Doonan.
Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Matthew and Almeida "Mary" (LaChance) Doonan, he lived in Cumberland for over 50 years. He was a graduate of St. Raphael Academy, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Doonan was employed at Fram Corporation in East Providence for 42 years, retiring as Chief Quality Control Inspector in 1989. Early in his life, he was involved with drum and bugle corps.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan R. Doonan of Cumberland; a brother, M. Raymond Doonan of Warwick; three grandchildren, Lori-Ann Amoroso of Warwick, Edward F. Doonan, III of Woonsocket, and Jessica R. Alexander of Canton, GA; and five great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Edward F. Doonan, Jr., who died on November 27, and the brother of the late Margaret Gendron and John J. Doonan.
His funeral will be held on Friday, December 24, at 7:30 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 309 Broad Street, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
