CUMBERLAND - Earl Bertenshaw, Jr., 87, of Academy Drive and formerly of Lincoln died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Betty (Rattray) Bertenshaw.
Born in Cumberland, a son of the late Earl and Grace H. (Entwistle) Bertenshaw, he had lived in Lincoln all of his life before moving to Cumberland a year ago.
Mr. Bertenshaw was a self-employed home improvement contractor.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of the former Eugene T. Lefebvre Post #1271, VFW, Central Falls and a member of the DAV.
He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, Pawtucket.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sharon L. Bertenshaw-Peloquin and Earlene Bertenshaw-Procter, both of Lincoln; three sons, Lawrence B. Bertenshaw of Lincoln, and Brian L. and Jamie M. Bertenshaw, both of Cumberland; one sister, Joyce Choquette of Lincoln; one brother, Leroy Bertenshaw of Cumberland; twelve grand- children; twelve great grand- children; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William Bertenshaw.
His funeral will be held TUESDAY, MAY 10 at 10 A.M. at BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial, with military honors, will be in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls.
