LINCOLN - Donald E. Batty, died Thursday, July 5, at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. He was the husband of the late Alice(Scott) Batty and the late Harriet (Politt) Batty.
Born in Valley Falls, he was a son of the late William R. and Mary (Campbell) Batty,
Mr. Batty was a Vice-President of Manufacturing for Standard Nut & Bolt Co.
He was a Past-Master of Unity Lodge #34, F. & A. M., now St. John's Lodge #1, F. & A.M.; a member of the Pawtucket Chapter #4, Royal Arch Masons, the Pawtucket Council, the Holy Sepulchre Commandry #8, the Palestine Shrine A.A.N.O.M.S., and the Providence Court #71 of the Royal Order of Jesters. He was Past President of the Visiting Nurses Association, the To Kalon Club, and the Cumberland Lions Club. He was a Trustee of the Pawtucket Institution of Savings, and a Director of the Pawtucket Trust Co. He was a Corporator of the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, serving on the Building Committee of the Sayles Building, and as Chairman of the Building Committee of the Hodgson Building. He was a member of the Squantum Association, and a member of Christ Church, Lincoln.
He is survived by one son, Donald S. Batty of Cheshire, CT; one stepdaughter, Linda E. Aubin of Cumberland; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Lisbeth Moore, and the brother of the late William R. Batty, Jr. and Ruth Lancaster.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m. in BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
