PAWTUCKET - Dino J. Romoli, of Pawtucket passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Jean (Adams) Romoli.
Mr. Romoli was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Nello Romoli and Altomira (Pallini)
He spent many years traveling the thoroughbred racing circuit as an assistant starter at racetracks that included Narragansett Park in Pawtucket, Lincoln Downs in Lincoln, Suffolk Downs in Boston, Rockingham Park In Salam, New Hampshire, Tropical Park in Miami, Florida, Gulfstream Park In Hallandale, Florida, Hollywood Park and Santa Anita in California.
In 1968 he was promoted to Head Starter at Rockingham, Tropical, and Gulfstream Parks.
Dino had a wide variety of interests which included gourmet cooking, gardening, fishing and part time private investigator in Florida for many years.
He was a past Venerable of the Loggia Roma 251 where he was a member for over 77 years and a life member of the Pawtucket Tri City Elks. Dino was a life member of Oleeta-West Dade Masonic Lodge 145, the Mahi Shriners of Miami Fl., The Grand Masonic Lodge of Florida, the Disabled Veterans of America and a life member of the Blinded Veteran's Association of Rhode Island and South East Massachusetts.
He is survived by his daughters Charlene McDuff and her husband Gerald and Linda Romoli both of Pawtucket. He also leaves his grandson Timothy McDuff and his granddaughter Kailyn McDuff and his great granddaughter Ava McDuff. Mr. Romoli is also survived by his nieces Roberta Lopez and Barbara Bourgery and his nephew Michael Gentili.
The funeral for Mr. Romoli will be Thursday at 11:00 am from the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial In St. Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket at 12:00 noon. His burial with full Military Honors will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery. The calling hours for Mr. Romoli will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to St. Teresa's School, 140 Wood Haven Road,, Pawtucket, RI 02861 in Dino's memory.
