Daniel W. Haynes Sr.
PAWTUCKET - Daniel W. Haynes Sr., 68, a retired Pawtucket Police Sergeant passed away Tuesday July 24, 2012 at the University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. after a courageous battle while waiting for a liver transplant. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia A. "Cindy" (Zuba) Haynes.
Born in Framingham, MA he was a son of the late Gardner and Aleta (Hershey) Haynes. Dan retired to North Carolina in 2009.
Dan was a 27 year Veteran of the Pawtucket Police Department retiring as a Sergeant.
He was a Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Fraternal Order Of Police and the Knights Of Columbus.
Besides his wife he leaves one daughter Cheri D. Lucia and her husband Angelo of Narragansett, one son Daniel W. Haynes Jr. of Rhode Island, one sister Patricia Crowell of New Hampshire, five brothers Gardner Haynes, Frank Haynes, Bob Haynes all of Massachusetts, Ralph Haynes and Kevin Haynes both of North Carolina, two granddaughters Sydney Lynn Lucia and Riley Alicia Haynes, nieces and nephews. He also leaves his devoted pets Amber his dog and Ayden his cat.
A Military Funeral will be held Wednesday August 1, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High Street Central Falls with a Prayer Service in the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. CALLING HOURS WEDNESDAY FROM 9:30 AM TO 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in Dan's name to the Jason Ray Fund C/O Lisa Jurgevich UNC Center For Transplant Care 101 Manning Drive Chapel Hill, NC 27514 or your favorite Pet Charity. Burial will be in Spring Vale Cemetery Rumford.
