CENTRAL FALLS - Daniel Carreiro Furtado, 82 of Central Falls, died Monday, at Summit Commons Nursing Home in Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Noemia (Carreiro) Furtado.
Born in Pedreira, Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio Carreiro and Maria do Carmo (Mota) Furtado. Daniel came to the United States in 1967.
Daniel was employed for many years at Monet of Pawtucket and Providence before retiring. He was a member of St. Anthonys Parish, Pawtucket, RI and a founding member of Irmandade do Divino Espirito Santo of St. Anthony Parish.
Beside his wife, Daniel is survived by three sons, Jaime C. Furtado of Cumberland, Edward C. Furtado and Manuel Furtado of Lincoln and their wives; five grandchildren, Cody, Amanda, Taylor, Noah and Jordan Furtado; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Manuel C. Furtado, Antonio Mota, Joao C. Furtado, Deniz C. Furtado, Arthur C. Furtado and Etelvina Barbosa.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Church, Lawn Avenue, Pawtucket at 10:00 a.m. His life will be celebrated with calling hours on Thursday from 5:00 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Holy Spirit Society at St. Anthony's Church, 32 Lawn Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
