WESTERLY – Losing the pregame coin toss was the only thing that didn’t go well for the Cumberland I Major Division Softball All-Stars on this night.

They pounded out 15 hits to post a convincing 11-6 victory over Warwick West Side Tuesday night in a Rhode Island State Tournament losers’ bracket final. Cumberland will return to the Paul E. Trombino Memorial Complex on Wednesday (5:30 p.m. first pitch) to face Cranston National.

In order to capture states and continue onward to the Eastern Regionals in Bristol, Conn., Cumberland must defeat Cranston twice. A win by Cumberland on Wednesday would set up a winner-take-all contest Thursday.
