In Cumberland, a new school rises

April 6, 2014

CUMBERLAND – Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy’s elementary school building has begun to take shape at the former Currier Park on Broad Street near Town Hall, and is expected to open to students in the fall.

That was the forecast offered by Robert Bellafiore, a spokesman for Civic Builders, on Friday as workers from H.V. Collins, Civic’s contractor, continued to erect steel beams at the site.

“Steel will be going up for the next four weeks, and the building should be enclosed by the end of June,” Bellafiore said. “It will be occupied in the fall, that is the bottom line right now,” he said.
