Clarice L. Osborne
DURHAM: Ms. Clarice Longworth Osborne, age 98, passed away at Hock Family Pavilion on December 11, 2010. She was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late William and Martha Longworth Osborne. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Bell Osborne, her brother, William James Osborne and her nephew, William James Osborne, Jr.
She is survived by her great-nieces, Bonnie Osborne Eudy and husband Keith of Durham, NC, Nancy Osborne Davis and husband, Page of Chapin, SC. Also surviving is Barbara Osborne, wife of her late nephew William; two great-great nephews, Mitchell Davis and Will Eudy, and two great-great nieces, Katherine Davis and Shannon Davis.
She was employed for 40 years at B.A. Ballou Jewelry Co. in Providence, RI. She joined Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church in Pawtucket, RI in 1936 and was an active member there until she moved to Durham in 2005. She was a former Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir, and was active in the Girls Service Club. After moving to Durham, she attended McMannen United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Asbury Sunday School class, the Primer Timers, and participated in Vacation Bible School.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 16th 10:00 a.m. at Merrick Williams Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Moshassuck Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 9:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church.
