PAWTUCKET â€” The 1st Annual Pawtucket Cherry Tree Carnival is being held this weekend (through Sunday) at the R.I. Cherry Blossom Festival, on Roosevelt Avenue.
The weekend-long festival features a full carnival with rides, games, food and entertainment, along with the Cherry Blossom Running Event, which kicks off at 7 a.m. today. Run the Blackstone Valley Half Marathon and witness the beautiful sights of the Blackstone Valley. If the half marathon is too far for you - then consider running in the Kyle Coutu 5K. Bring the kids to run in the Cherry Blossom 1K. All races start and finish in Downtown Pawtucket.
While youâ€™re there, participate in the Blackstone River Storage America Duck Race, check out the Pink Heals Pink Fire Truck & Police Car, try wall climbing or watch the Butterfly Parade.
Other events include the Chinese Lion Dancers, Vegetable Plant Give-Away, the Cherry Blossom Bicycle Tour, Chocolate Demonstrations by the Confectioners Mill Preservation Society, the Latin America Music Festival and much more. Admission is free, so come and enjoy.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation and the Cherry Blossom Festival.
