Charlotte M. (Bowker) Ferland, RN, 88, of Hanover Avenue, Pawtucket passed away peacefully at home on July 4th, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice J. â€śChiefâ€ť Ferland. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Fallon) Bowker.
Charlotte graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1946, before working at both Memorial Hospital and Brown University for many years until her retirement. Charlotteâ€™s greatest joys in her life were her family and her faith.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Judith Hurley and her late husband Kevin Hurley of Seekonk, MA, Mary Ventetuolo of Cranston, Gail Varga of Pawtucket, William Ferland and his wife Elizabeth of East Greenwich and Nancy Menard and her husband Stephen of North Attleboro, MA. She also leaves eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Mary Mulberry.
The funeral for Mrs. Ferland will be Tuesday, July 8th at 9 AM from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Paul II, 697 Central Avenue, Pawtucket at 10 AM. Burial will follow in the family plot in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours will be Monday, July 7th from 4PM to 7PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Childrenâ€™s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Charlotteâ€™ memory to honor her love of children.
