The news was announced within the school community by Victor Capellan, deputy superintendent for transformation. He had sent out an email on Tuesday at 7:41 a.m. stating, “A few hours ago, the Central Falls Learning Community suffered a great loss. Maureen Azar, principal of Ella Risk Elementary school in Central Falls passed away early this morning. This is a sad time for everyone.”
